Consumer Rights Act 2015 | CRA
The Consumer Rights Act 2015 (often known as the CRA) says that any goods supplied to consumers must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and exactly as described. For physical goods and digital content, the legislation provides a specific timeframe for consumers to reject substandard or faulty items. Consumers have an initial 30-day “short-term right to reject” an item and claim a full refund. Beyond 30 days, businesses are generally entitled to one opportunity to repair or replace the faulty item.
The Act also says that services must be performed with reasonable care and skill, for a reasonable price, and within a reasonable time. If a business fails to meet this standard, they can be required to repeat the service or issue a price reduction.
Additionally, the legislation protects consumers from unfair contract terms and hidden fees, ensuring that business-to-consumer contracts and notices are transparent, balanced, and fully compliant with consumer law.
