R v M & Others
18 Dec 2014
Senior Solicitor Pat Wilson successfully represented Mrs M who was acquitted on both counts of conspiracy to facilitate a breach of immigration law and using unlicensed security operatives following a retrial at Blackfriars Crown Court. It was alleged that the defendant had conspired – together with five other defendants – in a £6 million-pound scam involving the hiring of illegal immigrants as security guards. The defendant was a director of the company that was alleged to have been used as a front for employing these workers and it was suggested that she would have therefore known about their illegal status and the low wages they were paid.
We instructed Roxanne Morrell of Carmelite Chambers.
